Huge Helps Gucci Launch Mobile E-Commerce Website
February 27, 2013 - Brooklyn.
Huge and Gucci, one of the world’s leading luxury fashion brands, are pleased to announce the launch of Gucci.com
’s mobile website, optimized for mobile devices. Now available in North America and Europe, the mobile website will launch in the Asia Pacific region this spring.
The site was created in response to the growing demand for access to Gucci’s luxury products on mobile devices and it allows customers to easily browse and purchase Gucci products, whenever and wherever they choose. The move reflects the growing use of mobile devices by luxury clients, as well as Gucci’s increasing investment in digital marketing and e-commerce.
“Gucci has always prided itself on providing customers with unparalleled shopping experiences, whether in our stores or online. Based on the rapid growth we have seen in mobile purchases, it was important for us to create the kind of luxury experience in mobile that we are known for in the industry and that our customers expect from us,” said Gucci President and CEO Patrizio di Marco.
Since the initial U.S. beta launch in December, conversion rates have increased by over 70% and revenue grew by almost four times year-over-year. The mobile site already accounts for 27% of Gucci.com’s total traffic and 13% of total online revenue for the brand. Gucci.com operates its e-commerce site in 27 countries but this is the brand’s first website specifically optimized for mobile. Customers in the U.S. and Europe who visit Gucci.com on a mobile device will automatically see the new mobile site.
Gucci’s digital teams in Florence and New York collaborated with Huge to create the new mobile site, which is optimized for mobile browsers on iOS and Android, the most common mobile operating systems among Gucci customers.
Founded in Florence in 1921, Gucci is one of the world's leading luxury fashion brands. With a renowned reputation for quality and Italian craftsmanship, Gucci designs, manufactures and distributes highly desirable products such as leather goods (handbags, small leather goods, and luggage), shoes, ready-to-wear, silks, timepieces and fine jewellery. Eyewear and fragrances are manufactured and distributed under license by global industry leaders in these two sectors. Gucci products are sold exclusively through a network of directly operated boutiques (429 DOS as of December 2012) and through e-commerce, as a valuable complementary business channel. Gucci products are also distributed through a small number of franchisees, and selected department and specialty stores. For more information about Gucci, please visit www.gucci.com
